hong kong museum of history

man, time is flying by like crazy, i have less than two weeks left in hong kong.
facing the end of my stay continues to be tough on me, i have trouble sleeping at night because i can't stop wondering about what is going to be next, whether it will be easy or hard, delightful or fearsome.
to distract myself (and to live up to my promise of exploring new places), today i went to the hong kong museum of history with my friend xin.us in front of the museum.
small lanterns.
big lantern.
lantern dragon! my favourite.
a chinese grocery store in the early 20th century.
xin in front of red safe deposit boxes.
stamp.
opium chest.
a candy store in the 60's - the freezer box reads 'have a pepsi!'
kids in the 60's.
i loved the history museum, the exhibitions were so well done! it covers the history of hong kong from its prehistoric days up the the present. there are eight exhibition halls in total, and in every one there is a mini cinema which shows you a little film about the respective historic period. the exhibition on folk culture was my favourite - so many bright colours, lanterns and costumes!
to finish off our outing, we had poutine at new york fries, something else i'd never had before. it's a canadian national dish: fries with mozzerella cheese curds and hot gravy. heart attack in a paper box, mmmh.
