On looking back

Where in all the world is my time going? Yet another monday has rolled around after a much too short weekend, and in less than a month I will be back on home soil, having completed the final part of the adventure I set out for last year. It's crazy to look back at the pictures taken during those months on the road. Sometimes it already feels like it was ages ago - I was in such a different mindset then. But it's amazing to not just flick through the pictures, but to really look back and to feel what I felt in that particular moment, to remember how hot the sun was, how good jumping in the river felt after a long day of climbing, to really appreciate how grand a journey those five months were, and how glad I was and still am that I got to do what I did. I travelled to the other side of the world! By myself! And it was AWESOME!

The cure for anything is salt water

Ch-ch-changes

This past week held a lot of changes for me. We were struck by yet another heatwave of epic proportions which had me bust out the summer dresses, ban the tights and made me wish I had not left my sunnies on our van's dashboard in New Zealand. Then on tuesday, when I was thoroughly enjoying myself with the hot weather and the sunshine, we got kicked out of our apartment with a mere 2 days to find new place. I was incredibly lucky to be offered to move in with a colleague of mine for the rest of the month, and so by thursday, when clouds started appearing again and temperatures dropped, I bid my old home farewell and moved house. Hanoi seems to be unable of the constant - things here are always changing, always in flux. People come, people go, sushine follows rain follows sunshine. One thing, however, is certain: sundays spent at the climbing gym are always good. Today's session was followed by dinner with my friend Sophie from Paris and the best dessert I have eaten in months. On days like this I get sad that I will be leaving this place soon.
